Bahrain's human resource experts plan talks

More than 32 human resources and training experts from Bahrain have registered to take part in an international conference on training and human development in Cairo, Egypt, next month.

A delegation from the Bahrain Society of Training and Development (BSTD) will represent the country at the 35th Asian Regional Training and Development Organisation's (ARTDO) International Conference & Exhibition.

Among the delegates are BSTD executive adviser to the board and chief executive officer Ebrahim Al Dossary, ARTDO board Member and Gulf Air chief people's Officer Ahmed Al Banna, BSTD president and BIBF deputy director Hussain Ismail, BSTD public relations director Essam Al Alawi, BSTD programmes director Fathia Al Awadi, Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) deputy chief executive officer Salman Al Mahmeed, BAS recruitment and administration head Mariam Sowaileh Gulf Air and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) human resources officials, Works Ministry, Bahrain University and other human resources officials.

The four-day learning event is being held under the theme Human Capital: Training & Development for the Knowledge Society, from November 3 to 6, at the Marrott Zamalek Hotel.

'This conference offers an excellent opportunity to broaden our knowledge base in the field of people development,' said BSTD international relations director Gopika Beri.

'It features an exciting blend of Asian, Arab and global experiences and expertise in the development and management of human capital. A unique opportunity for multi cultural learning and networking is offered to participants.'

Al Dossary will be awarded during the event, after being named during ARTDO's annual general meeting held in Bali, Indonesia, as Man of the Year 2007 - the first Arab to win the award.

It is in recognition of his great contribution in the field of human resources locally (as one of the leaders of BSTD) and internationally as champion and chairman of the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO), as well as for reconstituting the rules and regulations of ARTDO.
