Over 700 applications have been received within a week of the official launch of M H Alshaya Co’s “Jumpstart Your Career' in Kuwait.

The summer internship programme will provide young Kuwaitis with hands-on experience in commerce, business and entrepreneurship.

The programme in July and August this year will have a total of 1,000 young Kuwaitis working across M H Alshaya Co retail franchise operations in Kuwait.  Brands involved include Starbucks, H&M, The Body Shop, Foot Locker, Mothercare, Debenhams, River Island and others.

Mohammed Abdulaziz Alshaya said the strong response to the “Jumpstart Your Career” programme shows the enthusiasm of young Kuwaitis.

“One of the biggest challenges facing the Middle East is the need to create 90 million jobs in the next 20 years. We believe that starting here in Kuwait by involving our youth and giving them experience in all aspects of business and entrepreneurship is a major step forwards that goal,” said Alshaya.

Applications for the new programme at one of Kuwait’s leading retail company will be accepted till tomorrow (June 15) from young Kuwaitis from Grade 10.
