MBRPLD completes launch of leadership programmes
Dubai, May 19, 2008
Mohammed bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), an innovative leadership programme designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of Dubai, has completed the launch of its integrated model of leadership programmes.
Conceptualised by UAE vice-president, prime minister and Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, MBRPLD offers four distinct development programmes, which are Young Leaders, Promising Leaders, Government Leaders and Director General (DG) Majlis Programme.
"Mohammed bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development's ultimate goal is to ensure the long-term and systematised leadership development across all government departments in addition to preparing leaders capable of strategic creativity and change. We seek to maintain and even enhance the quality and expertise of incumbent government leaders while taking parallel steps to create a large pool of future leaders who have the capacity to implement and provide continuity to the Dubai Strategic Plan," said director, MBRPLD, Adel Al Shared.
Promising Leaders is one programme of MBRPLD that targets UAE nationals between the age of 21-25. It primarily aims to establish an elite pool of future leaders who will be responsible for the sustainability of the strategic initiatives of Dubai Government.
Young Leaders focuses on young people between the age of 28-34 and provides a 24 month extensive programme. It aims to equip young nationals with essential skills and boost their expertise through training programs and workshops in line with the strategic plan and aspirations of Dubai.
Government Leaders has been designed to qualify the future leaderships of Dubai Government departments by creating a pool of talented individuals within all government agencies. Government Leaders targets UAE nationals above the age of 35 and aims to raise the performance level of candidates at par with international standards.
DG Majlis allows programme candidates to tackle critical strategic challenges and opportunities concerning top-tier government officials, including issues that affect decision making, within regular executive forums.
It has two primary components, Counselling and Dialogue, which have been designed to facilitate constant interaction to encourage concerted assessment in taking any major decision.
Promising Leaders has been the latest to be inaugurated of the four programs with a pioneering batch of 70 candidates recently commencing the 24-month training module; MBRPLD also recently launched the second cycle of the Government Leaders programme.
The MBRPLD was recently represented by Al Shared at a forum on sustainable development and economic growth organised by INSEAD. Held under the theme “International citizenship is the foundation stone for leadership,” the forum was held exclusively for large international companies and governmental and non-governmental organisations, media, and academics from around the world.
Several attendees who were introduced to the MBRPLD’s activities and goals were impressed and described the programme as a unique and world-class programme. – TradeArabia News Service
