Bahrain set for Edukex
Manama:, November 25, 2007
Edukex – the region’s biggest exhibition on British educational institution – will be held in Bahrain from December 1-2.
The event, to be held at Gulf Hotel, Awal Ballroom in Bahrain, will offer free information and advice to students who are considering study in the UK.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi at a ceremony attended by British Ambassador Jamie Bowden, British Council Director Sandra Hamrouni and other dignitaries, the organisers said in a statement.
The British Council’s annual Education UK exhibition (Edukex) 2007 gives students the opportunity to talk directly to some of the leading education institutions from the UK. This year, more than 35 institutions will be attending in Bahrain, the organisers said.
“Representatives from the UK institutions will be on hand to advise on everything from the range of courses and qualifications available at their institutions to programme content, the selection procedure, entry requirements and application process, tuition methods, living costs, accommodation options and extra curricular activities. Edukex 2007 also offers advice on living in the UK and visas,” they said.
More than 10,000 students from the Middle East are currently studying in the UK.
“Edukex 2007 brings together a large number of prestigious UK institutions which offer everything from academic and vocational programmes to summer English language courses and A levels. It is the perfect opportunity to meet a wide variety of UK institutions and compare what’s on offer – all with the guarantee of quality that comes with selecting the UK as an overseas study destination,” said Alison Devine, Deputy Director for the British Council in the UAE and responsible for Education UK across the Middle East.
‘The UK is a highly cosmopolitan country with a rich and vibrant culture in which to live as a student. It’s easy to get around so overseas students can experience everything from its history and stunning scenery to the latest fashions, music, sports and theatre,” said Devine.
Edukex 2007 was held on November 17 in Abu Dhabi before moving on to Dubai (November 18-19), Saudi Arabia (November 21-28) and Bahrain (December 1-2) before finishing in Kuwait (December 4-5). – TradeArabia News Service
