Dubai, August 25, 2007
Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has successfully concluded an internship programme for 20 students.
The students from various educational levels joined different units and divisions at the SEDD headquarters recently.
These courses came in line with the department’s scheme to strengthen its relations with the community, support the national workforce and encourage them to take their part in the future work market.
SEDD provided the necessary environment that helps to develop the trainees’ skills - adding experience to their qualifications and exposing them to the real world of work.
“The students were very delighted to join this training course in both its practical and theoretical aspects,” department general manager Ali bin Salem Al Mahmoud said.
“We felt that they have a sincere desire to compare their educational qualifications with the real work place environment and to understand the requirements and demands of the work market as well as the professional standards, especially for those who are university students.
“Additionally the pre-university students were given a unique opportunity to understand the nature of work place in order to redefine their future studies accordingly
“This programme came as a part of the department’s activities and its aim to contribute in social interaction schemes, by providing training courses for some categories of students on an annual basis.
“The venue of these courses include all the divisions and units at the department to make the trainees familiar with the work process and to use their efforts and abilities by asking them to carry out some tasks to let them apply their skills and knowledge learnt,” Al Mahmoud added.
The closing ceremony was attended by Amna Abdul Baqi Al Hammadi, deputy manager of Financial and Administrative Division, Khalid Saif Ibrahim, deputy manager of Registration and Licensing Division, and Fahed Ahmed Al Khamiri Deputy Manager of Commercial Protection Division. TradeArabia News Service
