Batelco hones young talent
Manama, June 23, 2007
A new batch of graduates is currently making its mark within various Batelco units.
As part of its commitment to young Bahrainis, Batelco, the Kingdom’s leading telecommunications company, annually hires a number of new graduates who have completed degrees in Bahrain and overseas.
Through the Company’s Graduate Trainee Programme, the graduates gain valuable work experience in various departments while completing a variety of assigned projects.
The majority of the trainee graduates are offered permanent job placements at Batelco within 12 months of joining.
Batelco chief executive Peter Kaliaropoulos recently met the latest new batch of graduates who are currently making their mark within their designated departments, at a workshop held at Batelco’s headquarters in Hamala.
Also present on the occasion were a number of Batelco senior executives including Human Resources and Government Relations general manager Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa, Networks general manager Ebrahim Zainal, Information Systems general manager Saleh Tarradah, human resources development senior manager Kamal Bahraini and program co-ordinator Masalik Al Haddad.
Kaliaropoulos said that Batelco was delighted to provide work placements for new graduates each year.
He spoke about the importance of learning good communication and negotiation skills to support the body of knowledge the students had already learnt at university.
“To be competitive in the job market requires many skills and also a positive and confident attitude when completing tasks and dealing with colleagues and customers,” he said.
“This hands-on experience teaches the graduates about the discipline and responsibility that is required in order to be successful in any career,” said Shaikh Ahmed.
Besides the Graduate Trainee Programme, Batelco supports a wide range of educational initiatives to assist students in the Kingdom’s schools and universities. Additionally, Batelco also supports several health, cultural and sports programmes to benefit the residents of Bahrain. TradeArabia News Service
