Bahrain to spend GCC aid on key sectors

Manama, June 19, 2012

Priority will be given to housing, infrastructure, electricity, water, education, health, youth and social development projects as Bahrain plans to spend a $10 billion GCC aid package over the next 10 years.

HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday chaired a work meeting and issued orders to step up work on approved projects immediately.

He stressed the importance of new housing projects in line with a strategy to reduce waiting lists for government homes, pledging the government’s commitment to major development projects and viable economic and social initiatives.

HRH the Premier said it was vital to promote the investment environment and create jobs. The aid was pledged last year in the wake of unrest to meet aspirations of Bahrain’s people. – TradeArabia News Service
