RAK team heads to Chennai to woo investors

Ras Al Khaimah, August 15, 2010

A delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) will be on a three-day visit to South Indian city of Chennai to meet potential investors and discuss business opportunities in the emirate.

RAK FTZ said an official trade team from its Mumbai Liaison Office will hold interactive sessions and consultative meetings with potential investors at The Taj Mount Road Hotel in Chennai from August 18 to 20.

The team will meet investors, mainly from among the SME sector and explain how, with an initial investment of only Rs2.3 lakh ($4936), they can set up an office in the UAE, said a senior official.

'As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, we are looking to strengthen our positioning as a business hub geared at helping SMEs connect to emerging market economies,' remarked Oussama El Omari, RAK FTZ chief executive officer.

The team will also welcome businessmen, entrepreneurs and potential investors with full information on how they can expand their business operations in the Middle East.

As one of the Middle East’s multi-awarded and fastest growing free trade zones, RAK FTZ provides quality service for a wide variety of businesses, especially SMEs and recognises that with the burgeoning business and entrepreneurial spirit within India, the Indian market holds a huge potential.

'Our target is to increase registrations by 15 per cent by the end of the year. We are also focusing on providing more value added services for our clients with the launch of our Mazeed Services. Chennai, as a region, presents huge potential, with a large number of SMEs operating in different sectors, which want to expand overseas,' he added.

The RAK team will hold an orientation on the first day, introducing RAK FTZ and detailing the products and services the free zone has to offer with special focus on its cutting-edge technology; value-added services, such as the free trade zone's liaison office in Mumbai, to make it easier for international office to receive information and assistance; friendly staff; and a no-hassle, no-red tape, transparent business policy.

All sessions are interactive with participants welcome to inquire and register during the sessions, he said.

“Our mission is to attract and maximise the growth of value-added, know-how-based, technologically-advanced and innovative businesses in Ras Al Khaimah and to help UAE companies expand via a global office network,” El Omari added.

El Omari is positive that the RAK FTZ Chennai road show and the great opportunities it offers will be welcomed by the local business community.-TradeArabia News Service
