The UAE Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection, headed by minister of economy, has promised steps to manage rates of essential goods and also protect consumers from 'exposure to unfair prices.'

The other issues discussed included the implementation of a practical mechanism for an 'Early Alert System' to ensure that the prices of essential goods are managed effectively.
The system aims to investigate the reasons behind the shortage of commodities globally, and device means to avoid losses from unprecedented price rises and supply fluctuations in the international markets.
