90-member US team joins Dubai forum
Dubai, March 10, 2009
A group of 90 leaders from the business, government, education and civic sectors of the US are taking part in the three-day Dubai Policy Watch forum, which began today.
Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development (MBRCLD) is hosting the team. The group’s visit aims to examine the economic strategies of the country under the theme "A Competitive Region in a Global Economy", said a statement.
The US delegation has been travelling around the world with the mission to explore and benchmark the economic strategies of thriving metropolitan regions against international best practices. The US study mission will be joined at the forum by high-ranking officials from the UAE who will serve as keynote speakers during the event.
Adel Al Shared, executive chairman of Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development, said: "Hosting the US delegation will give us a unique opportunity to reflect on our economic policies with respect to the best practices being adopted in other key growth regions around the world. This activity will surely be a lot more enlightening as it will enable us to scrutinise our own development initiatives from the perspective of the visiting US delegates. We have also invited senior-level officials from different government departments and business organisations to talk about their own growth strategies and to also participate in the succeeding high-level discussions. With such a prominent list of participants and speakers, we are definitely looking forward to highly instructive and informative sessions."
The Dubai Policy Watch forum will feature discussions focusing on important areas that affect the economic condition of the UAE, including finance, governance, business and commerce, education, human resources, transportation, real estate, healthcare and technology. Acting on a suggestion made by executives from Boeing and Microsoft, the US Study Mission has chosen the UAE as a model society for the Arab World as it seeks to learn more about the region's culture, history and economy. – TradeArabia News Service
