Prices of consumer goods in Bahrain falling

Prices of basic consumer goods in Bahrain markets have dropped considerably.
The government revealed this positive trend, vowing to continue efforts aimed at maintaining affordable prices. This came as Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Industry and Commerce Ministry was instructed to follow up on prices in the domestic market. The need to regularly compare price trends in neighbouring countries was also stressed, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.
The Cabinet was then briefed on the ministry's steps to follow up on the slump in prices, especially of basic staples, construction materials and necessary commodities.
Instructions were also given to hold regular meetings with traders and reach out to consumers to enhance their awareness. The High Price Control meetings, conduct inspection visits and crack down on price violations.
"The strict measures aim to reduce the cost of living for people," Cabinet Affairs Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyala Al Khalifa said. - TradeArabia News Service
