Oman awards $590m Sultan Haitham City Phase I contracts

Oman's Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has signed contracts worth RO228 million ($590 million) for the infrastructure development of Phase I of Oman's mega Sultan Haitham City project at the Urban October Conference and Home & Building Expo (October 7 to 9) being held in Muscat.
 
Spanning an area of 5 million sq m, Phase One of Sultan Haitham City project will feature more than 7,000 residential units that can accommodate 39,000 people. The construction area is more than 3 million sq m.
 
These contracts included six partnership and cooperation agreements, reported Oman News Agency.
 
Among the agreements signed was a deal to establish networks for electricity, water, sewage, irrigation, broadband, telecommunications, and district cooling services, with an investment value worth RO82.7 million, it stated. The project, to be completed within 24 months, will be implemented by Towell Infrastructure Company, it added.
 
Sarooj Construction Company has been signed up to construct main roads, tunnels and culverts at an investment value of RO63.2 million. The entire work will be completed within 30 months.
 
A RO6 million agreement was signed with Al Faniah Oman Company to build three transformer stations (11/33 kV), covering a 7,500 sq m area in districts 6, 8, and 9 of Sultan Haitham City. The project will be carried out within 15 months.
 
The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs sealed a deal to establish integrated service stations with an investment value exceeding RO6 million, covering an area of 6,200 sq m, as part of its Al Birr and Al Ihsan project. 
 
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to allocate a plot of land exceeding 8,000 sq m for the Security and Safety Services Foundation in Residential District No. 17 at Sultan Haitham City.
 
Further, a cooperation agreement was signed to develop the technological framework for smart cities within Sultan Haitham City.
 
In a major boost to the Sultan Haitham City project, Al Said inaugurated new neighbourhoods within the mega project including Al Nuha Neighborhood (A13), Yanayer Neighborhood (D12) and Sarooj Oasis Neighborhood (A13) and Al Wafaa Neighborhood, said the ONA report.
 
Developed by Tibiaan Real Estate on an area of over 58,000 sq m, the RO13.4 million Al Nuha Neighborhood feature 116 residential units, while the RO38.7 million Yanayer, developed by Idraak Properties, covers an area of over 56,000 sq m and includes 339 residential units. 
 
At the expo, the developers of Sarooj Oasis Neighborhood announced the sales launch of all its 278 residential units. Spanning more than 86,000 sq m in area, the project is developed by Sarooj Construction Company at an investment value of over RO31.6 million. 
 
This was followed by the sales launch of Al Wafaa Neighborhood (Phase 2) within the Sultan Haitham City project. Developed by Al Abrar Real Estate over more than 770,000 sq m area, this RO208 million project boasts 1,644 residential units. 
 
A three-day event, the Urban October is witnessing wide participation from international investors and consultants in the fields of urban planning and real estate development. It was inaugurated by Sayyid Taimour Asa’ad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).
