Schindler lands big Avenues – Riyadh supply contract

Schindler Group, a global provider of elevators, escalators and related services, has announced that its Saudi unit - Schindler Olayan - has won a major contract to supply a total of 293 elevators, escalators, and moving walks to The Avenues – Riyadh, a key multi-purpose project covering over 1.8 million sq m area.
Situated in a prime location in the north of Riyadh, The Avenues – Riyadh, once completed, will be home to the largest commercial mall in the Middle East – which alone will cover an area of 388,000 sq m.
The key retail destination will boast five multi-purpose towers that will house hotels, residential apartments, and offices.
Developed by Shomoul Holding, The Avenues – Riyadh seamlessly blends traditional Salmani architecture with modern design. The design of the complex has already obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the American Green Building Council.
As per the deal, Schindler Olayan will deliver 134 Schindler 5500 elevators (including 45 passenger elevators, 89 service elevators), one Schindler 2600 elevator, 150 Schindler 9300 escalators, and eight Schindler 9500 moving walks.
All units will be cloud-connected which will allow them to be monitored 24/7, said Schindler in a statement.
Schindler ActionBoard will provide the customer with a real-time overview of all the elevators’ and escalators’ activities, making it easier to prioritize tasks – whether it is performance-checks, planning maintenance, data-exchange or monitoring of general statistics, it stated.
