ILF named technical advisor for Saudi Aramco's Zuluf water project
RIYADH, August 12, 2021
ILF Consulting Engineers, an international engineering and consulting firm headquartered at Bayern, Germany, said it has secured a major contract from Saudi Aramco to provide technical advisory services for its Zuluf Water Treatment Plant project.
The project, which is part of the Zuluf Oilfield Development Programme, involves a water treatment plant with an initial capacity of 185,000 cu m per day. The plant will treat water from the Zuluf oil field, which will be afterwards reinjected back into the oil field.
As per the contract, ILF will be responsible for covering all technical aspects in the request for proposal (RfP) document for the project package, which specifies the developer’s responsibilities to carry out engineering, design, material supply, construction, inspection, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning as well as operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant for a 25-year term.
State oil giant Saudi Aramco had in June invited developers to submit their proposals for a public-private-partnership (PPP) water project at Zuluf, a super-giant oil field located in the Arabian Gulf, about 40 km offshore the north-east coast of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Aramco’s plans also include the development of a reverse osmosis desalination plant and an independent sewage treatment plant (ISTP).
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has been appointed as financial adviser for the project, while White & Case are the legal consultants. -TradeArabia News Service
