Al Salem Johnson Controls, a leading provider of integrated heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) solutions and equipment, said it has reached an agreement with Al Watania Poultry Company for the establishment of two industrial cooling plants at its facility in the Al Qassim area of the kingdom.

As per the deal, Al Salem Johnson Controls will build the industrial cooling plant installed with Sabroe chillers to cool production lines and all facilities of the new poultry plant, which is part of Al Watania’s modernisation plan for its slaughterhouse. It will boast a capacity of 1,280 tonnes.

This new agreement is the second signed four months after a previous project, where a 960-tonne cooling plant was installed in May last year, it added.

The deal comes as part of the company's strategic plan to raise its production capacity of chicken and eggs and is in line with expansion plans into new local and regional markets, stated Dr Mohammed Sulaiman Al Rajhi, chief executive officer of Al Watania Poultry Company after signing the deal with Al Salem Johnson Controls CEO Dr Muhannad Al Sheikh.

It’s also in line with government plans for domestic poultry production to meet 60 per cent of domestic consumption, he said.
 
According to him, the poultry company is moving to expand its production facilities and add new facilities, including two new factory projects with a production capacity of 100 tonnes per day of poultry processing and the upgrading of a slaughterhouse according to the latest equipment and global standards.

Al Sheikh said that all the solutions provided to Al Watania had been completed according to the requirements of the project.
