Etihad Esco, Siemens to retrofit 115 mosques

DUBAI, October 28, 2018

Etihad Energy Service Company (Etihad Esco) has partnered with Siemens to reduce the energy consumption of 115 mosques and two buildings through the execution of a retrofit project.

Siemens will be supporting Etihad Esco), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dewa and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) to provide Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); and water and lighting retrofit solutions; along with the installation of control systems to further reduce the energy consumption of HVAC and lighting, within the framework of the first phase of the program.

The project scope will also include measurement & verification for a six years contract period.

Upon completion, Siemens will guarantee a 20.43 percent reduction in annual energy consumption, resulting in yearly savings of over Dh3 million ($816,000).

The energy and equipment performance post the implementation of the current project are guaranteed for six years, with a payback period of 3.7 years.

Installation of HVAC, water and lighting retrofit solutions, along with additional control systems will significantly lower energy consumption and generate huge savings across 115 mosques under IACAD’s management. We applaud the department’s commitment to supporting the Dubai   Strategy and contribute to reduce 30% electricity and water demand in Dubai by 2030.”
