Top Mideast FM body 'committed to innovation'

DUBAI, July 23, 2018

The Middle East Facility Management Association (Mefma), a non-profit association that provides a dedicated platform for facilities management (FM) professionals, wider construction industry stakeholders and owner associations, has reaffirmed anew its full commitment and solid support for viable initiatives designed to promote innovation and professional development across the regional industry.

The Mefma reaffirmation comes amid the growing FM community in the Middle East led by the GCC economies. The association is seeking to help sustain the industry’s ascent by conducting relevant studies, providing educational programmes, and assisting corporate organisations in creating sustainable FM strategies.

It is also working towards raising the profile of the FM profession by showcasing its influence in the health, safety, productivity, and well-being of people who utilise the built environment, said the statement.

Jamal Lootah, the president of Mefma, said: "We are committed to continuing the hard work to promote the FM sector in the region and spread awareness on best FM practices. Using the association as a platform, FM professionals throughout the Middle East can advance the practice efficiently - developing, maintaining and operating the built environment and attendant communities."

"Numerous FM initiatives are being deployed to elevate further the profession and promote innovation in this age of digital evolution. Mefma will remain at the forefront of rolling out programmes and forging key partnerships to bring the Middle East’s FM community to the next stage of growth and development," he stated.

These certificates are Ta’aseesy, which is ideal for all entry level and junior facility managers, engineers, architects, developers, facility owners and operators who wish to gain essential knowledge of the FM profession; Mustadam, a sustainability facility professional SFP award; and Muhtarif, an industry-leading, competence-based award.

"Through these, employers can now be assured that holders of the Mefma certificates have passed through a rigorous assessment process, which is administered by a panel of FM professionals and sustainability experts," observed Lootah.

"Mefma aims to position itself as an innovator that drives increased awareness of international and national trends and empowers the region’s FM industry. To achieve its objectives, the association offers a number of fully certified and accredited FM training courses and certifications," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
