Sharjah completes mosque maintenance work

Sharjah government has completed the maintenance of 70 mosques in the emirate at a cost of Dh16 million ($4.3 million) as part of its Ramadan celebrations, reported state news agency Wam.
The project was implemented by the Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) in co-operation with Al Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department, it stated, citing a senior official.
"These projects are part of the initiatives of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at preserving the general view of the emirate, providing the atmosphere of faith for the worshippers to coincide with Ramadan and within the development plan of the Department," explained Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, the chairman of SPWD.
