Arabtec, a leading contractor for social and economic infrastructure, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Arabtec Construction has won a Dh157-million ($42.7 million) contract to develop key phases of the Uptown Cairo master development.
An integrated development located in the heart of Egypt’s capital, the Uptown Cairo boasts a total built-up area of 61,000 sq m in both phases, said a statement from Arabtec.
As per the contract awarded by leading developer Emaar Misr, the Arabtec unit will be responsible for the construction of Phase Three and Four of Village E “Levana” at Uptown Cairo.
The scope of work includes the construction of 128 villas along with the surrounding roadworks and infrastructure, it added.
Arabtec Holding’s Group CEO Hamish Tyrwhitt said: "The Uptown Cairo Project award marks one of the first projects we have been awarded outside the UAE in over a year. We look forward to working on another project for Emaar as we build on solid relationships with our key clients."
The group’s impressive list of completed projects includes iconic buildings such as the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Abu Dhabi's landmark Emirates Palace Hotel and Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum; as well as other technically challenging work on airports and related infrastructure.
"We will continue to strategically onboard work in our key competencies and key geographic markets where our clients operate that makes business sense for Arabtec’s success and sustainability," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
