Ethydco to float tenders for new rubber plant in Egypt

CAIRO, February 15, 2018

Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (Ethydco), a leading manufacturer of value creating plastics and rubber products, will next month float tenders for the construction of a polybutadiene industrial rubber plant in the port city of Alexandria, said a report.

The plant, which is being built at an investment of $100 million, will boast a production capacity of 36,000 tonnes per annum when it becomes operational in 2020, reported Daily News Egypt.

The new plant will contribute to fulfilling local market needs of industrial rubber, which is used in many important feed-in industries, such as car tyres, conveyors, carpets, the manufacture of polystyrene, and many different industries, said the report citing Khaled Talaat, the assistant head of marketing.

"Ethydco will address companies that have previous experience to present their technical and financial offers and the awarded company is expected to be announced in May," he added.
