AMA's engineering expertise on show at Bahrain expo

Bahrain-based Ahmed Mansoor Al Aali Group (AMA Group) is out to make a lasting impression of its immense capabilities in high-skilled value addition in the structural and mechanical engineering field, at the Gulf Industry Fair 2018.
The engineering expertise of its Structural & Mechanical Division (SMD) has been captured on film and is being showcased on a large-screen display that occupies centrestage at its stand.
“Gulf Industry Fair is one of the prestigious exhibitions in Bahrain and it gives good visibility to our company,” remarked Haresh Patel, the general manager of AMA-SMD.
The SMD is on a roll, having clinched some of the most prestigious contracts for structural metalwork that have been awarded recently in Bahrain.
These include the contract for supplying two core equipment packages for the Alba Potline 6 expansion as well as the offshore PRM modules for Bahrain LNG, said Patel.
The Alba deal involves supplying two lines of pot shells and busbar, stretching a total of 2.6 km, he stated.
“We are looking to complete the project ahead of schedule by the end of this year,” Patel added.
On the Bahrain LNG work, AMA Group said it was aiming to complete the project by the end of March.
“We have started delivery and are undertaking full module evaluation, prior to shipping the large modules, which include the steelwork, pressure vessels, pipes and instrumentation, all ready for installation at site,” he stated.
Established in 1990, SMD is an integral division of the AMA Group which celebrated 60 years as one of Bahrain’s leading integrated contracting, trading and manufacturing conglomerates in 2014.
Equipped with one of the region’s largest state-of-the-art fabrication and mechanic facilities of its kind, the division has in the past decades left a strong imprint on the industrial sector in the region, supplying crucial fabrications to most of the aluminium smelters including Alba, Emirates Aluminium (Emal), Abu Dhabi and Dubai Aluminium (Dubal), Dubai, both in the UAE; and Sohar Aluminium, Oman.
SMD-AMA undertakes general fabrication, installation and equipment erection for larger scale industrial and process industries projects as well as specialist civil works.
It fabricates process and utility piping; process equipment including heat exchangers, pressure vessels and storage tanks; heavy structural steel; pot shells and super structures; furnaces, stacks, ducts and miscellaneous steel; and metering skids.
