Bahrain discusses key infrastructure projects

Bahrain's Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf held a meeting with the members of Shura Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee to discuss the projects being implemented and those in the design and tendering stages.

The minister stated that the meeting was part of the communication and integration between the two parties, which serves the public interest and contributes to strengthening collaboration on all levels.

Besides discussing means of collaboration with the legislative power, the meeting referred to the projects and programmes that seek to configure infrastructure based on the best international standards, said the statement from the ministry.

Al Khalaf said the meeting also put the focus on the latest roads and sanitary projects, and projects included within the Gulf Support Programme.

The attendees discussed the ministry’s collaboration with the Traffic General Directorate, regarding plans and projects contributing to alleviating traffic congestions. They also shed light on the pros of the ministry’s system (Tawasul), which is considered a tool to improve performance and services.

Works Affairs Undersecretary Ahmed Al Khayyat highlighted the ministry’s preparations for the rainy season and touched upon the most important stormwater drainage networks projects, said the statement.

The meeting also referred to the support extended by the ministry for the development of marine resources, fishermen support, construction and development of fishing harbours, in addition to aspects related to agriculture; being an vital pillar for sustainable development and food security, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
