Oman firm appoints engineering consultant for mega poultry project
MUSCAT, August 22, 2017
A’Namaa Poultry Company has appointed local Omani firm Semac Consultants as the engineering consultant for its mega poultry project in Ibri, which is being set up with an investment of around RO100 million ($259.7 million), said a report.
An agreement to this effect was signed recently by Saleh Mohammed Al Shanfari, CEO of Oman Food Investment Holding Company (OFIC) and chairman of A’Namaa Poultry, added the Oman Daily Observer report.
OFIC is a state-owned holding company overseeing a large portfolio of strategically vital projects designed to support the nation’s food security goals.
In a statement, Al Shanfari said the agreement marks a key milestone in the implementation of the poultry project in the Wilayat of Ibri in Dhahirah Governorate.
He added that together with a pair of agreements inked in previous days, including a usufruct pact with the Ministry of Housing covering the lease of land for the project, these signings will accelerate the execution of this important venture.
A plot covering 60 sq km has been allocated for the project at Safah in Ibri Wilayat.
The project finance totalling RO50 million ($129.8 million) has already been secured following a financing agreement concluded with Meethaq Islamic Bank recently — a deal that also underscores the strong backing of financial institutions for the project, added the report.
