Arab fund provides $46m for Jordan road project

AMMAN, August 2, 2017

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development has provided a soft loan worth $46.27 million to Jordan for a major road project.

The loan will contribute to financing the Salt Ring Road (eastern section).

Jordan's Planning and International Cooperation Minister Imad Fakhoury and Abdul Latif Al Hamad, chairman and managing director of the fund, signed the loan agreement, said a Jordan Times report.

Fakhoury said the project aims to improve land transport services in the city of Salt and the surrounding areas.

The project includes the construction of a 22-km ring road around the city of Salt, 35 km northwest of Amman, allowing transit traffic to pass by the city without entering it.
