Bahrain's road, sewerage projects on track

Work is progressing well on a project linked to the paving of dirt roads at Road 1409 in the Salmabad area of Bahrain, said a statement from Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
The scope of work includes asphalt paving works, implementing a sewerage network to serve Block 714 and part of Block 708, replacing the old pumping station with a new one with better specifications a larger capacity, implementing ground plastic channels for future usage, lighting and signage.
The project is being implemented by Atlas Transport at a cost of BD690,000 ($1.8 million).
About 70 per cent of the road paving work had already been completed under the Dirt Roads Program, while work is in full swing for the implementation of a sewerage network and a pumping station, in addition to extension of a storm water drainage network, remarked Sayyed Bader Alawi, the roads projects and maintenance director at the ministry.
"The sanitary and roads works have been combined in one project in order to provide complete services to residents of the area. The project is expected to serve 100 housing units," explained Alawi.
The programme is part of the government’s initiative to improve infrastructure in Bahrain's urban areas and creating an integrated roads network across the kingdom, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
