Qatar group wins Barwa Village Extension project

Qatar-based Barwa Real Estate Company has awarded a QR63-million ($17.2 milllion) construction deal to contractor Insha Company for the ‘Barwa Village Extension’ project, said a report.

The project, to be developed on a 11,096-sq-m plot of land, is an extension to the existing Barwa Village, and will be completed within 18 months, reported The Gulf Times.

It consists of a four-storey building with a total built-up area of 34,492 sq m. The strip building’s ground and mezzanine floors contain 56 shops, 10 food and beverage units, and four anchor stores with areas between 72 sq m and 740 sq m, in addition to a 1,338-sq-m supermarket, it stated.

The floors above these will house 177 residential apartments - 84 one-bedroom units with a built-up area of 73 sq m to 76 sq m; 87 two-bedroom units (111 to 113 sq m) and six studio apartments (47 to 58 sq m).

The infrastructure work includes construction of two distribution substations and all required utilities for electricity, potable water, drainage, hard and soft landscape, CCTV, roads, and car parks, with all storage tanks and pump rooms for potable water, firefighting, and gas, the report added.
