Lamprell delivers jackup drilling rig to NDC
UAE, December 23, 2016
UAE-based Lamprell, a leading provider of diversified engineering and contracting services to the energy industry, has completed construction on the jackup drilling rig, Al Gharbia, and its delivery to Abu Dhabi’s National Drilling Company (NDC).
The completion and delivery of the jackup rig, on time and on budget, was marked at an inauguration ceremony held at the company’s Hamriyah facility in the UAE on December 22, said a statement from the company.
The rig will depart the facility in late December en route to its drilling location in Abu Dhabi, it said.
The contract for the NDC “Al Gharbia” rig was signed in November 2014 and this is the seventh rig in a series of nine rigs being built and delivered by Lamprell to NDC, it added.
All nine rigs have been designed according to the Cameron LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design. The remaining two rigs are proceeding on schedule and will be delivered as planned in 2017, said a statement.
Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi, chief executive officer, NDC, said: “Our company has launched this strategic project to maintain the highest levels of reliability and resilience, as well as to ensure that we provide high quality, cost-efficient, and versatile drilling services to our clients, Adnoc Group companies, without compromising on HSE standards and asset integrity.”
Al Suwaidi extended his sincere appreciation to Adnoc higher management and the NDC board of directors for their guidance and continuous support.
He also thanked the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) for their cooperation and trust and Lamprell for their distinguished efforts in completing the project.
Christopher McDonald, chief executive officer, Lamprell, said: “This was the 25th jackup drilling unit that our company has delivered since its listing in 2006 and is the fourth jackup rig that we have delivered in as many months.”
“This successful project delivery would not have taken place without close teamwork and the strong relationship between our company and NDC project and management teams,” he said.
“We look forward to working with NDC on the remaining two projects which are both proceeding well,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
