Wilson Associates boosts Dubai design team

DUBAI, November 8, 2016

Wilson Associates, a pioneer and trendsetter in the design industry, has made two key appointments - Tom Skyring as design director and Hilda Impey as associate design director - in its Dubai office.

Both bring a wealth of talent and experience to the team, said a statement from the company.

Skyring joins Wilson Associates’ Dubai studio after nearly 30 years as an interior designer, 15 of those at the helm of his own namesake studio where he specialised in restaurant and bar design.

Often regarded as New Zealand’s leading F&B (food and beverages) designer, his projects range from gastropubs to signature restaurants for celebrity chefs and international hotel brands such as Westin and Hilton.

His distinctive design style is recognized in such award-winning restaurants as the Bangalore Polo Club, Ballarat Trading Co., and Dine, said the statement.

In his new role, Skyring will act as the primary liaison between the client and the design team at Wilson Associates’ Dubai studio.

By overseeing the project from start to finish, he conceptualises the design intent and crafts project goals, reviews all documentations, facilitates meetings and negotiations, and manages the team closely to ensure the client’s vision is realized.

Impey brings more than 15 years of interior design experience and an acute specialisation in FF&E (furniture, fixtures and equipment) to the company.

Born and raised in Mexico, Impey’s international career in textiles and interiors began early, and in 2002 she was awarded first place in the International Design Biennale in Mexico City.

She received a master’s degree in textile futures from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art & Design in London, UK, and her deep knowledge of textiles and passion for interiors bring a unique approach to her methodology.

She has also worked as a creative head launching textile ranges for the interiors industry, and as a fabric buyer, product developer, and interiors trend forecaster for suppliers around the world, said the Dubai company.

Previously an associate head of FF&E at Godwin Austen Johnson’s Dubai headquarters, Impey is known within the interiors and hospitality industries for her particular and exciting creative style. She will work across all projects in Wilson Associates’ Dubai studio as head of FF&E, assisting the team in creating unique concepts with flair, it stated.

Welcoming the duo, managing director Isabel Pintado, said: "I have reinforced an already superb team through Impey’s addition as well as the addition of our new design director Skyring. Having them in the team allows us to deliver a much higher output and guarantees superb designs."

"Both are perfectionists in their fields, eager to design and deliver exquisite and creative environments. All in all, I am over the moon with their decision to join us and look forward to spending many hours over sample boards and schemes together," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
