Bahrain school on track for 2018 opening

The construction work at the Malkiya Primary/Intermediate Girls’ School in Bahrain is nearing completion and is on track for opening in the 2017-2018 academic year, said a report.

The project is within the Government Action Plan to build 10 new schools with modern specifications across the kingdom’s governorates, reported BNA citing the Education Minister, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi.

Dr Al Nuaimi was inspecting work at the state-of-the-art BD4.5 million ($11.8 million) school development. A four-storey horizontal building constructed on an area of 16,626 sq m, the school comprises 36 classrooms, and has the capacity to accommodate 1,200 students.

"The new educational facility represents one aspect of the leadership’s unwavering support to the education sector, in line with the leaders’ keenness on providing more educational services for all the citizens," he stated.

The school’s main building features a number of lifts, central air conditioning, Wi-Fi, as well as environment-friendly energy-conserving specifications.

It also includes multi-purpose laboratories for science, computer, home sciences, and physics, in addition to a cafeteria, a library, offices for the teaching and administrative faculty, sports hall, other service facilities such as toilets and store rooms, he added.
