Mall of Qatar ... new shopping experience.

Mall of Qatar opening put off to December

DOHA, October 10, 2016

Mall of Qatar (MOQ), which promises to change the entire shopping mall experience in the region, has announced December 10, 2016 as the revised date for its soft launch.

This new date will not only be significant to everyone in Qatar as it is just a week before Qatar National Day, but it will also ensure a higher percentage of fitted out shops for a more comprehensive list of offerings, the mall said.

“We are just as eager to open our doors and welcome our very first visitors and give them the experience that we have promised. Our proposition has to ensure that all our visitors get what they are looking for and so much more from their very first interaction with Mall of Qatar. As a result, we have taken the decision to move our soft launch date to ensure that a certain number of key offerings and facilities will be available at launch,” said Rony Mourani, general manager, Mall of Qatar.

The mall was recently awarded the building completion certificate that verifies and ensures its readiness, it said.

The mall was earlier scheduled to open on October 29.

Expected to receive a footfall of 20 million customers annually, the Mall of Qatar includes 500 shops including over 100 food and beverage (F&B) outlets and 7,000 underground and surface car-parking spaces.

When open, MOQ will offer a dramatically different shopping experience, transforming the way visitors engage with malls, premiering the world’s first resident troupe performing mall-wide entertainment and custom-developed live shows on a 360-degree multi-lift rotating festival stage with theatrical sound and lighting and animated water features.

The mall’s 19-screen Cineplex will include the latest 4D projection technology screen and seven VIP screens on three levels, an eight-lane bowling alley and in-theatre gourmet food service. The mall will have a family entertainment complex spread over 16,500 sq m of multi-level entertainment for children and adults.

The mall complex also has a five-star luxury hotel - Curio, a Collection by Hilton. - TradeArabia News Service
