Damac wins big at Africa, Arabia Property Awards

DUBAI, September 27, 2016

Damac Properties, a leading luxury real estate developer in the region, said it has won four awards at the Africa and Arabia Property Awards held recently in Dubai, thus reaffirming its position as an award-winning developer of distinctive and cutting edge luxury properties.

The company has also been nominated twice for the global International Property Awards to be held in London, UK, in December.

At a lavish gala ceremony held recently at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai, Damac was conferred the accolades in several categories, based on a range of criteria and judged by a panel of 70 international industry experts, including 5-star awards for Best Hotel Architecture and Best Developer Website, as well as Highly commended recognitions for Golf Development and Mixed Use Architecture.

The developer will be one of the representatives from the region at the acclaimed International Property Awards, which will be hosted in London in December, and be judged amongst a host of winning developers from all around the world.

Representing Damac at the awards, Tim Fallon, the vice president for corporate communications, said: “These awards recognise those distinguished projects in a highly-competitive region, and are a testament to the pioneering role that Damac continues to play in luxury real estate. It has a vast portfolio of luxury projects and we are especially proud to celebrate the recognition of two of our most desirable projects – Akoya by Damacand Aykon City.”

Aykon City, its latest mega-project launched earlier this year, scooped up two of the prestigious awards that recognise outstanding architecture, namely “Best Hotel Architecture” for Aykon Hotel and Hotel Apartments and “Mixed-Use Architecture” for the entire Aykon City development.

The selection was made based on a host of criteria including use of space, safety precautions, aesthetics, as well as use of renewable energy. The four-tower, mixed-use lifestyle development is located in one of Dubai’s most desirable locations on the arterial Sheikh Zayed Road and overlooking the Dubai Canal.

The project comprises Dubai’s first all-suites, 80-storey Aykon Hotel and Hotel Apartments, a 63-storey serviced hotel residences, a 60-storey apartment tower, and a 65-storey office tower.

The UAE developer's 42 million-sq-ft flagship international golf course community and lifestyle destination Akoya by Damac took the “Golf Development” award, on the basis of innovation, presentation of design, marketing of the project, aesthetic appeal of build, facilities available and quality of facilities, as well as sustainability and emphasis on eco-friendly build and facilities.

Next month 1,350 villas and apartments will be handed over to investors and the highly-anticipated golf community will continue to rapidly take shape, with further unit deliveries and completion of other elements of the masterplan community to follow.

Stuart Shield, CEO - International Property Awards, said: “We are delighted for Damac’s success in this year’s Africa & Arabia Property Awards."

"To be awarded across such a variety of categories is an incredible achievement, especially against this year’s competition,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
