Work on the Khazan gas field reservoir and infrastructure project in Oman is progressing as per schedule with more than 70 per cent of the project already completed, said a report.

One of the largest non-traditional narrow reservoir (tight gas) gas projects in the Middle East region, it is 60 per cent owned by BP Oman and the rest by Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production.
 
The first consignment of gas from the Khazan reservoir project will be delivered to the pipeline network of the Ministry of Oil and Gas in November next year, reported the Oman Business News, citing a top government official.

Yousef bin Mohammed Al Ojaili, the chairman of BP Oman, said the company plans to start the drilling of the first exploratory gas well by the end of this year.

A total of 125 wells will be drilled in this phase and gas production is likely to begin in 2020.
