Union Properties awards $122m residence project deal

DUBAI, June 6, 2016

Union Properties has awarded the main construction contract for its Dh450 million ($122 million) Oia Residences at MotorCity in Dubai, UAE, to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC).

The lead consultant for the Oia Residences is Conin and the architect responsible for the Greek-inspired design is AK Design, said the company in a statement.

The project will boast 269 residential units including duplex apartments with private gardens, terraces and direct access to the swimming pools. It will also feature a hotel and retail space and be positioned close to The Ribbon, a series of retail buildings due for completion soon, it added.

CSCEC said it will complete the construction contract worth Dh235 million ($64 million) by early 2018.

This is a major win for the Chinese firm, which has been awarded a total of 35 projects in the UAE till date of which 21 have been completed.

Its recent project wins include a joint-venture contract from Nakheel to build the Dh1.4 billion ($381 million) Palm Gateway scheme alongside Korea’s Ssangyong Engineering and Construction, consisting of three high-rise residential towers on top of the Palm Jumeirah monorail station, and a contract to build a 364-villa project known as Zen for Indigo Properties.-TradeArabia News Service
