Bids invited for Omantel HQ project
MUSCAT, January 28, 2016
Oman Tourism Development Corporation (Omran) has invited bids for the construction of the new headquarters for Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) at its upcoming convention and exhibition centre in capital Muscat.
The project will come up in the business park of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Seeb area, Omran said in the tender proposal.
Omran's bid invite for the Omantel headquarters project comes as part of a MoU (memorandum of understanding) signed with the national telecom company in early 2014.
The new headquarters complex will house two office towers sporting distinct geometrical forms above a podium with three levels of basement car parking. It will boast 40,000 sq m of built-up area with adequate parking for more than 1,200 vehicles, said the company.
The main office tower, The Sun, will rise from basement level B1 to level six and will comprise five-storey (ground-plus-five) office floors with a mechanical plant room and a roof garden on level six.
The second office tower, the Crescent, will comprise seven floors of office space. The two towers will be connected by bridges at levels two to six.
The proposed project will also incorporate several environmental features throughout its lifecycle to meet the globally recognised voluntary Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) criteria set by the US Green Building Council, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
