Perkins+Will wins top ME architecture award

DUBAI, November 29, 2015

Leading international architectural and design firm Perkins+Will has won top honours at the eighth annual Middle East Architect Awards ceremony held in Dubai, UAE.

The big industry accolade came for its diverse range of distinctive and innovative project designs, said the company in a statement.

The event, which recognised the winning projects and professionals in the industry, praised Perkins+Will for the significant impact the firm has had on the GCC region through its work in 2015.

Speaking on the win, Steven Charlton, the principal managing director, Perkins+Will Middle East, said: "As a creative team, we are committed to this region and have worked tirelessly to set new benchmarks not only for ourselves, but for the architectural design industry in the Middle East as a whole."

"We are a team of passionate architects and designer who are proud and honoured to be recognised for achieving excellence in the industry," noted Charlton.

The win comes hot on the heels of a brace of accolades at the Identity Design Awards held in October and the Arabian Property Awards held earlier this month, he added.

This was in recognition for its exceptional creative work and ability to embody the philosophy of the clients with the use of 21st century solutions to create unique community spaces combining functionality and aesthetics.

An architectural and interior design specialist in public, corporate, hospitality, healthcare and residential sector, Perkins+Will has been part of various projects in the region including the ground-breaking DT1, the Ellington Group’s residential property based in Dubai and the Marriott-branded Diplomatic Quarter Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Both projects have been praised for their innovation and high standard of design which is sympathetic to the local environment, said Charlton.

"Although relatively new to the region (through the Dubai office), we’re already showcasing our wealth of talent in the architecture and design fields. This award is testament to our company ethos of adapting to the local environment to produce incredible designs that carry all of the hallmarks of Perkins+Will," he stated.

"This is just the beginning for us, as our award cabinet grows, so does the company. We are already working on a range of new projects which will ensure we’re back here again next year," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
