New RTA plan to help ease Dubai traffic congestion.
RTA approves Dubai road network upgrade plan
DUBAI, October 29, 2015
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved a road network upgrade plan besides the construction of parking spaces to ensure smooth traffic flow in the Central Business District (CBD) and Deira seafront area.
The RTA step comes as part of its periodic assessment of the performance of roads network in the area, and in response to public complaints relating to traffic congestion and shortage of parking spaces in the neighbourhood.
"We have endorsed traffic solutions for Deira market expansion project in coordination with the project developer ‘Investment Corporation of Dubai. Accordingly, additional road network and parking spaces will be constructed in addition to integrated public transport systems to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area," remarked Maitha bin Udai, the CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA.
It marks yet another step in RTA’s journey to figure out appropriate solutions to address such issues, taking into account the projected increase in traffic density, growing demand for parking spaces, and mega development and service projects in the area, said bin Udai.
The RTA said it had approved the studies and proposed traffic solutions for the new fish market, which is set for opening early next year.
"The approved plan included the provision of service roads, smooth entrances and exits, in addition to about 1,600 parking slots to accommodate extra numbers of vehicles associated with the new projects," explained bin Udai.
The RTA, she stated, had already started the construction of service roads together with the entrances and exits for the new fish market project in co-ordination with the Dubai Municipality.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
