Nikken Sekkei opens regional office in Dubai

Nikken Sekkei, a Japanese architect and one of the world’s largest architectural design firms, has recently opened its new regional office in Dubai, UAE.
The stylish facility is located on the 29th floor of the Burj Al Salam Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, opposite to the Dubai World Trade Centre.
It has been designed to provide state of the art touch down facilities for Nikken Sekkei design teams and will serve as a base for other group companies, said Tadao Kamei, the company CEO and president after inaugurating the office.
These include specialised interior design firms, such as Nikken Space Design, Nikken Housing System, Nikken Sekkei Civil and the thinktank - Nikken Sekkei Research Institute,” noted Kamei.
A major player in the global architectural design sector, Nikken Sekkei employs up to 2,500 professional staff in eight group companies offering comprehensive design, engineering, management, consulting and research and development services.
Dubai, he stated, was originally chosen as the regional hub for its excellent transport infrastructure, which inturn has allowed the company to grow by being close to its partners in many neighbouring countries.
The new facilities will serve the firm’s increased workload in 20 cities throughout the region and beyond to India and the CIS countries. It will allow Nikken to grow its design team in the region, providing additional support for its partners.
Commenting on the design aspects of the new Dubai office, regional director Dr Fadi Jabri said Japanese architects explore more toward harmony and subtlety in their design approach,
"So this soft, seamless and immaculate white design, exemplifies key elements of Japanese design philosophy – being environmentally aware, precise, durable, integrated and functional," stated Jabri, who was recently appointed a board member.
Nikken Sekkei’s portfolio consists of more than 25,000 projects across 200 cities in 40 countries.
