Ritchie Bros sells equipment worth $42m at Dubai auction

DUBAI, September 13, 2015

Ritchie Bros Auctioneers, a leading industrial auctioneer, sold over $42 million worth of equipment and trucks at its unreserved public auction held recently in Dubai, UAE.

The two-day auction set new site records for Dubai with over 920 bidders and more than 400 online bidders, said a statement.

More than 2,600 equipment items were sold in the auction including 100 excavators, 85 compactors, 85 telescopic forklifts, 80 wheel loaders, 65 cranes, 40 loader backhoes, 85 dumptrucks, and 55 truck tractors, it added.

Bids were made in the auction in person, online at rbauction.com and by proxy. Buyers from outside Dubai purchased approximately $19 million (45 per cent) of equipment and trucks, with equipment sold to buyers from as far away as Australia, Mexico, and the UK, said the statement.

Online bidders purchased approximately $5 million (12 per cent) of equipment, it added.

Eduard Faig, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros, said: “The massive selection of equipment in this week's Dubai auction attracted a record crowd of on-site and online bidders from 60 countries.”

“We sold items for more than 200 equipment owners from the Middle East and beyond. Particular strong performers in the auction were cranes, telescopic forklifts and backhoes,” he said.

“We already have a huge selection of construction equipment and trucks consigned to our next Dubai auction, in December. Anyone interested in selling before the end of the year should contact us in the coming weeks,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
