Qatar Rail gets certification for HSE standards

Qatar Railways Company, the firm which is overseeing the construction of the country’s integrated railway network, has been awarded a key ISO certification for occupational health and safety management systems.
The Ohsas 18001:2007 was given following management systems audits of the Qatar Rail QSHE (quality, safety, health and environment) department by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
Qatar Rail said this was the second accolade from ISO in less than two months. The company had in May received the certification for quality management.
"This is a key milestone for our company as it indicates not only Qatar Rail’s commitment towards health and safety governance and assurance management, but more importantly a framework for continuous improvement and excellence in delivery," said its deputy CEO Hamad Al Bishri after receiving the ISO certification from Brian Baxter, the area field service manager at LRQA in the presence of QSHE director Dr Fahad Al Jaber.
