Foundation stone laid for $105m cardiac centre in Bahrain

MANAMA, June 11, 2015

The foundation stone was laid yesterday (June 10) for the Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre in Awali, Bahrain.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa patronised the ceremony at the site of the project, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Work on the BD40 million ($105.3 million) medical milestone, which covers 44,000 sq m is expected to be completed within 36 months.

The Premier affirmed the government’s strategy to open more specialised medical centres to ensure world-standard healthcare and spare citizens the pain of seeking treatment abroad.

“The development of the health sector tops the government’s priorities,” he said, stressing resolve to ensure citizens world-standard medical treatment.

“A successful development policy requires a healthy society which is capable of achieving progress and prosperity,” he added.

He stressed the importance of the new centre, describing it as a value-adding medical milestone and a heath beacon that epitomises Bahrain’s healthcare strides.

He stressed the viability of the government-led strategy to turn Bahrain into a regional hub for world-standard healthcare and medical tourism, being a key pillar of the national economy.  

He highlighted plans to achieve health sustainability and set up more specialised medical centres, thanking the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for financing the centre under the GCC Marshall Plan.

He paid tribute to the UAE leadership, government and people for their fraternal stances in support of Bahrain.

He also thanked doctors, consultants, administrators and technicians for their pivotal contribution to the project. - TradeArabia News Service
