Dubai ruler approves $979m housing projects

DUBAI, June 8, 2015

Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum has approved housing projects worth Dh3.6 billion ($979 million) at a committee meeting held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MRHE) in Dubai, said a report.

Sheikh Mohammed, who is also the Prime MInister and Vice-President of the UAE, affirmed that the government was utilising all possible capabilities and resources to satisfy needs of the community and achieve people’s happiness, the state news agency WAM reported.

The UAE’s strategies, plans and projects position citizen’s welfare as a top priority, stated Sheikh Mohammed while launching the project that will cater to the needs of around 400 citizens.

The Dubai ruler stressed that providing quality and efficient services was at the heart of the government’s strategies and developmental projects for all service sectors, including education, health services and housing.

Sheikh Mohammed pointed out that he closely followed the customer satisfaction surveys on government’s services, which constitute the first criteria in performance assessment, the report said.

He was accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Director General of Dubai Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Suleiman.

During a meeting with the MRHE officials, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about the establishment’s services that include finished houses, maintenance grants, lands, housing loans services, constructed houses loans, maintenance loans and other services.

He was also given details about the construction loans for the projects from 2007 to 2014 which had soared to Dh2.9 billion ($789 million), while the maintenance and addition loans had reached Dh46.5 million ($12.6 million) during the period.

The Dubai ruler directed MRHE’s officials to speed up work process and enhance work efficiency by utlizing latest technologies, the report added.
