Knauf highlights Ecose binder technology

DOHA, May 14, 2015

Knauf Exeed Insulation, a leading company providing sustainable insulation in the region, highlighted its  patented Ecose binder technology for glasswool insulation, as Qatar’s construction industry embraces sustainability.

An integral part of the country’s green drive includes the use of sustainable materials, said a statement.

Kerim Caglar, technical marketing manager, Knauf Exeed Insulation, said: “The Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) used by Qatar has made the sourcing of sustainable materials mandatory for Qatar construction companies.

“Qatar has incorporated QSAS into Qatar Construction Standards and it is now imperative for all private and public sector projects to get GSAS certification. Our Ecose Technology products make for sustainable insulation, as they have the added benefit of using a plant-based binder that is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional binders.”

Knauf Insulation glass mineral wool insulation products with Ecose technology form a new generation of insulation, employing a revolutionary, new bonding agent made from natural and more sustainable organic materials than the non-renewable, phenol-formaldehyde or acrylic based resins traditionally used. They have a softer feel, odourless, easy to cut and offers superior level of sustainability.

To introduce construction companies in the country to its HVAC and building insulations made with its formaldehyde free Ecose technology, the company hosted a seminar for architects, developers and building consultants Doha recently.

Knauf highlighted its sustainable insulation products that can help build a greener city.

Over 150 industry leading companies including Private Engineering Office, Drake & Skull, Voltas, Aecom, Halcrow, Khatib Alami, Atkins, Hyder and Dar Al Handasah, attended the event.

“Sustainability is now a top priority in Mena region and our innovative solutions meet the standards made mandatory by regulators,” Caglar added. - TradeArabia News Service
