Hempel puts spotlight on multi-layered paint Strata
MANAMA, May 13, 2015
Hempel, celebrating its centenary this year and one of the regular exhibitors at gulfInteriors, is showcasing its latest products in the Gulf and some tried-and-tested offerings that have been widely used throughout the region, at the show.
A highlight is the Strata, which is a high-quality multi-layered paint giving the ultimate protection for concrete floors. The name recalls tough rock layers of the earth’s crust, said a statement.
Strata is being exhibited for the first time in the Gulf at the show, which runs till tomorrow (May 14) at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.
Jamil Matraji, area sales manager for decorative paints, said: “We expect Strata to be an ideal choice for shopping malls, car parks, hospitals, warehouses, food stores, railway decks and other tough spots.
“Strata is produced in three types, one for light traffic loads, another for heavy and the third for medium traffic loads. It is currently being produced at our Dammam plant but other Hempel plants in the Gulf will begin manufacturing it as demand rises in markets around the plants.”
Another product launched last year in Saudi Arabia but being showcased for the first time at a Bahrain exhibition is Casa Badeya, a paint which has long-lasting properties and is appropriately named after the Arabic word for everlasting heritage.
Casa Badeya has already been applied for five villas in Bahrain, said Matraji.
It is now being manufactured in Hempel’s Jeddah and Dammam plants, but will be produced in Bahrain in due course once demand picks up, he said.
Among popular Hempel products being showcased at the company’s stall is the interior paint Sadow. The latest edition in the Fusion line, it is inspired by Sadow, the Arabic tent fabric which the company says “withstands the test of time and harshness of the arid Middle East desert”.
Under Hempel’s Purearth initiative for sustainable and eco-friendly products, is Contex, a coat hailed as the best protection for the exterior.
Contex is a range of acrylic coating systems providing the very highest level of durability and protection, he says. Its anti-carbonation coating has been developed to provide both water-borne and solvent-borne systems in a wide variety of sustainable, aggregated and non-aggregated texture finishes.
Contex also has crack bridging properties up to 3.4 mm and offers thermal insulation. It is displayed at gulfInteriors along with Topaz Zero, which boasts zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions and anti-bacterial properties.
“In Bahrain, Contex has enjoyed the most demand while the Topaz range has also been very popular,” said Matraji.
Hempel has won supply contracts for the new multi-storey Fontana Tower in Juffair, Bahrain, and the 50-storey Sukoon Tower, also in Juffair.
It also supplied its paints for the 2015 Formula One Grand Prix in the kingdom. - TradeArabia News Service
