Oman to award EPC contract for seawater project

Oman government is set to award an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a major seawater supply project in the Duqm region of the sultanate, said a report.

The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad) in Oman is set to award an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a major seawater supply project in the sultanate, said a report.

The tenders for the contract are likely to be issued to pre-qualified companies in the third quarter, reported the Oman Tribune.

Sezad said the project is aiming at an output of 120,000 cu m per hour with provision to expand in future to 360,000 cu m per hour.

The intake channel capacity would be for 360,000 cu m per hour and the total breakwater length would be 1,100 m.

The work on the ambitious project is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2015 and is scheduled for handover in 2017, the report added.
