Construction summit focus on green technology

MANAMA, April 5, 2015

Participants at an upcoming construction show in Bahrain next week are to press for green sustainable technologies in the industry, according to organisers.

They said investment in such technologies is the future for a rapidly growing and developing industry worldwide and the only hope for generations to come, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

In a statement, Exposure Media managing director Sijo Joseph said this would help builders and developers achieve higher levels of energy efficiency in their buildings and contribute towards environmental protection.

Organised by the company, the fourth edition of the Arabian MEP (Mechanical Engineering Plumbing) Conference and Exhibition is being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from tomorrow to Wednesday under the patronage of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Essam Khalaf.

It will highlight Bahrain and the region's promotion of green energy technologies as well as issues concerning environmental sustainability.

'The event will showcase the latest heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) technologies as well as look at advances in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, insulation, refrigeration and automation products and services in the region,' said Joseph.

'The demand for higher energy efficiency, greener products and sustainable technologies has accelerated the pace at which new products and innovations are launched in the market,' he said.

'This has led to HVAC professionals becoming more innovative in their businesses or be left behind.'

He said key industry leaders are expected to be present at the event, where they will exhibit their products and also hold live demonstrations, take part in conferences and benefit from networking opportunities.

Revolutionary 3D printing, the challenge of super-tall buildings and state-of-the-art fire-fighting systems will also be among the more than 200 brands and services on show, billed as promoting Bahrain and the region's use of green energy technologies as well as issues concerning environmental sustainability.

'Seminars, workshops and open discussions during the event will focus on the latest technologies in green buildings and their implementation in the construction industry in this part of the world.'

Khalid Al Mulhim from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers '“ Saudi Arabian Chapter '“ will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony, in the presence of Mr Khalaf.

'The Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry will use the event to showcase its present and future projects as well as honour its engineers,' said Joseph.

'A special section on the latest energy efficient electrical products will be one of the highlights of the show, which will also feature iPad draws on all three days.'

Spread over an area of 8,000 sq m, the event is expected to bring together around 6,500 engineers and decision-makers who will discuss the latest trends in the industry and application of green and environmentally-friendly technologies.

He said the event will focus on boosting the markets and promoting quality and sustainability in the services offered.

'The show is built on the solid foundations of the previous successfully hosted events. Business deals worth $500 million were concluded during the last two shows, which were attended by more than 10,000 visitors.'
