Doka team giving live demonstrations at Qatar stadium.

Doka in Qatar stadium safety training demo

DOHA, March 30, 2015

Austrian formwork specialist Doka has performed live demonstrations at Qatar’s Al Wakrah Stadium construction site as part of the first annual safety training fair hosted by KEO, the project management consultant on the project.

The participation at the proposed 2022 Fifa World Cup venue was aimed at illustrating the practical application of safety procedures in the formwork process, said a statement from Doka.

The Al Wakrah Precinct, for which Doka is contracted by HBK Contracting Company to supply formwork for the enabling package, is the first new-build stadium to be developed ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

The construction process of the 40,000-seat stadium, which had its first structural concrete poured in February, has followed a diligent approach to safety, said the Austrian firm.

Matthew Statham, KEO’s health, safety and environment manager for the precinct, said: "We observe that all safety measures are in place before works starts and we reward safety practices."

"To date, the Al Wakrah Precinct has successfully completed more than one million hours of work without a lost-time incident, something that has only been possible thanks to the combined diligence of all stakeholders involved in this project," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
