Shell Oman Marketing Company, a leading fuel marketing company in the Sultanate, recently organised a seminar on construction and maintenance of road asphalt pavements.

The workshop is aimed at updating Shell Oman's clients on the developments in construction sector and also showcase the new techniques and technologies that contribute to quality infrastructure projects, said the company in a statement.

Shell products like Cariphalte polymer-modified binder (PMBs) and Mexphalte C are one of latest Shell bitumen solutions for infrastructure development projects such as roads, airports, railways, ports and others, it added.

Speaking on the occasion, Said Al Rawahi, the commercial fuel manager, said: "We at Shell have a strong track record in innovation and we wanted to share some of our cutting-edge technological developments with consultants, contractors and concerned stakeholders in Oman."

"The main aim of the workshop was to showcase ways in which businesses can reduce the occurrence of maintenance through the proper application and testing of bitumen on new roads," he added.

The seminar was conducted by Prof John Read, global technology general manager for Shell Bitumen, who has more than 20 years of experience in the bitumen and asphalt Industry.
