Bahrain sanitary project on track

MANAMA, January 13, 2015

The construction work at a major sanitary project in East Riffa area of Bahrain is 75 per cent over and on schedule for completion by the middle of this year, said a senior official.

The BD8-million ($21 million) E6 project includes implementation of 38-km-long main and sub sewage pipes, and seven pumping and lifting stations in the residential blocks 901, 903, 905 and 909 at East Riffa, said Khalifa Al Mansoor, the sanitary engineering assistant undersecretary at the Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Ministry.

About 51 per cent of the houses in these blocks have been connected to the network so far, he stated.

Al Mansoor said the ministry has already extended 26 km out of a total of 33 km of sanitary connections. The progress on the extension of sub-connections is 92 per cent and 72 per cent for the side connections, while 900 out of 1,740 real estates have been connected to the network, he added.

The project is being implemented in various phases, said the ministry in a statement.

Work on both stages includes installation of the sub sewerage network, main inspection chambers, sub network and inspection chambers, house connections, pavement works and other related works, in addition to pumping stations and related works, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
