ViCon to manage BIM on major Doha project

Al Khayyat Contracting and Trading has awarded the BIM management and BIM services deal for the Traffic Control Center project (CPC05) in Qatar to Hochtief ViCon, a leading service provider in the field of virtual construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
 
ViCon has already supported Al Khayyat with a 4D movie for their successful tender for the project’s execution phase, said a statement.
 
The scope of work will include BIM management, 3D modelling, 3D design co-ordination, 3D quantity take-off and 4D visualisation, it said.
 
Al Khayyat is a general construction company which has emerged as a key construction contractor in Qatar having commenced as a Syrian company in 1983. It is involved in the Middle East in all aspects of construction, management, development, architecture and engineering.
 
The Traffic Control Center project, which started in May, is part of a 409-hectare development for Qatar’s Internal Security Forces (ISF/Lekhwiya), which requires the construction of a new camp facility at Al Duhail, on the northern outskirts of Doha, said the statement.
 
The ISF project will be large in scale, featuring more than 330 individual building units made up of several different types of purpose-built facilities, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
