Drake unit wins $13m contract in India

Passavant-Roediger, a wholly owned German subsidiary of Drake & Scull International, has won two major contracts for a value of Dh50 million ($13.6 million) for water and wastewater treatment plants in India.

Under the terms of the first contract, Passavant-Roediger will undertake the work for Ford India’s new Vehicle and Engine Assembly Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

It will be responsible for design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical works for an Effluent Treatment Plant which has a design capacity of handling eight million litres of river water per day, and a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity 4,500 cu m per day.

The plants will make the river water fit for drinking and firefighting purposes as well as for automobile manufacturing. The waste sludge from the water treatment plant as well as sanitary wastewater and process wastewater from the manufacturing plants will be pumped to the wastewater treatment plant which will recycle the wastewater back into the automotive production as well as irrigation for agriculture, and will feature a Zero Liquid Discharge Processing Unit.

Under the second contract, awarded by the Rajasthan Government, the company will undertake complete testing and commissioning of 80 kilometers of sewer system and all ancillary works, including construction of manholes sewage pump houses and rising main and property connections in the town of Nathdwara.

The scope of work also includes 10-year operation and maintenance of all civil, mechanical, electrical and automation works for the sewer system as well as the sewage pumping station.
